I'm saving this video to share because I can't tell you how many times I've mentioned this cereal to people as an adult, and they look at me like I'm crazy. I also loved the cereal. It was almost like a harder version of captain crunch, with the texture of of Cocoa Puffs, but with sprinkles.

When I see old popular commercials like K'nex, it's weird to see them as an adult because all these little moments of clarity happen. My siblings and I would ask our parents for K'nex but they were among the pricer toys, like Legos kinda. So we weren't Legos/K'nex kind of kids. Our parents would say things like "those are toys for rich people". As a kid, you just take it as the understanding that "we don't have the kind of money it takes to buy this". But you're just a little kid. You don't realize it that you're low key processing it as "these toys are for rich kids, therefore I don't deserve to play with them/I shouldn't play with this because I am not a rich kid". I understand that our parents didn't intend to cause any damage with those kinds of statements. They just meant that the price is too much for toys. But you really dont catch how far that mentality goes with you until later in life. It's the same with restaurants. "Dad, can we go to Olive Garden?" "That's where rich people eat." Can we go to the movies? Rich people go to the movies. As a younger man, I would do that. I would think to myself "Man, I can't eat there. That's where rich people eat". Smh. It's crazy how much power as adults we have over the way that children see and experience the world. I am not a father, and perhaps by this point in life, I will never be. But people really need to put care and consideration into how they talk to their children. People really need to water their flowers with sunlight instead of overcasted clouds.

The very first one touched my soul. 00:23 - There was just something about logging into the internet as a kid and sitting through that sound that made you feel like you were part of the future lol. You felt like you were hacking in the pentagon just to hear "you got mail!" and it be an email from someone of the opposite sex that you met in some chatroom lol. For me, I met a girl in 2001. It started off as one of those kid crushes. She lived in NY, and we became so close that I would even take 8 hour bus rides up there sometimes on like spring and winter and summer breaks. Her mom liked me and knew I was a good kid so she would set up a guest room and Id spend a week with their family. The mom would feed me and feed me all the time. I was nice to have a place to go where people treated you well because my home life was NOT good. No hanky panky ever, except for one time we danced and kissed in her room. But thats it. This all sounds nice and innocent enough, but the reality is that we still know each other till this day. I still live where I grew up, she still lives where she grew up too. The reality is that she was a weird kid and obviously had behavioral problems that kept her from having normal relationships with people like me who were genuine friends. So our entire life of knowing each other was pretty much her generally being a shitty friend, treating me as if I am abusive every time I get a girlfriend when I'd lose interest in her, and then her making bad decisions with men time after time, and its led her to having 3 kids by 2 men, one of which she doesn't even know the identity of. I think it was a 1 night stand. Like 2 years ago, we reconnected, completely innocently from my part. But it seems like she was trying to Jenny from Forest Gump me into taking her and her kids in. I was obviously not with it. And she continued to be a really disrespectful person, just like when we were friends as kids. She never changed and went back to the same tactics of when I didn't go along with what she wanted, she'd just say mean shit and treat me like crap. Except we're NEARLY 40. She would become unhinged when it didn't affect me. I had to explain to her that we're not kids anymore and I grew up so I wouldn't lose sleep if we were angry with each other. So I told her that this is probably as far as our friendship and general presence in each other's lives will go. From time to time, she emails me citing family problems to get back on the ins with me and I ignore it. And it all started with that sound.

I remember Skip Its being popular in 4th grade ( 2000/2001) and kids brought them to school at recess but I never played with them.
